Welcome to Prelude II!
It was so nice to see so many familiar faces and welcome new singers this week! If you were not able to attend the Parent Orientation on Tuesday, please be sure to read through the Family Manual and Cantabile FAQ packet that was in your singer’s folder. Singers also received a calendar for the semester. These three documents do not need to return to class with your singer, but the folder and sheet music should come to class each week.
We learned each other’s names with the name song “Up the Ladder” and played two singing games: “How Do You Do Today” and “Bluebells Cockleshells.” We spent some time reviewing simple rhythms and solfege syllables with hand signs. Prelude II will focus on the pentatonic scale (do, re, mi, sol, and la) this semester.
We warmed up our voices and talked about how having good singer’s posture allows us to best use our bodies and voices as our instrument! We started working on some of our performance repertoire, “The Weather” and “Country Gardens.” This week, we looked at the first verses of each song.
I’m looking forward to a wonderful semester of music-making with Prelude II. Have a great weekend! If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at email@example.com.
