Dear Prelude II Singers & Families,
It was so nice to see the familiar faces of returning singers and welcome all of our new singers last week! We spent our time getting new know each other with a name game and a singing game that incorporated each singer’s name. We did some echo singing in the song “Charlie Over the Ocean” and then spent some time talking about our body as an instrument and exploring our voices.
We started to learn a song called “Little Snowflake” which we will sing at in-class recital at the end of the semester. We also read a book and sang along to “My Favorite Things.” We we also be learning this piece for our recital! You can help your child work to learn and memorize these songs using the videos below:
Please note that the video for “My Favorite Things” is the scene from “The Sound of Music,” and we will not be performing it exactly as it is in this video.
A few reminders:
- This week, your child will receive their Prelude II Folder – please bring it to class every week
- Please order your child’s Cantabile uniform soon as they often go on back order closer to performance time (more info on this in last week’s SCOOP newsletter)
- Please come in to the rehearsal room to sign your child in and out at the beginning and end of each rehearsal
I am looking forward to a wonderful semester together!
