Greetings, Intermediate Singers!
Thank you for your focused work this evening – it was a little hot and the coming of Spring makes us all a little distracted – so I truly appreciate your dedication to diving into our music for our upcoming Spring Concert on Saturday May 14th! Congratulations as well on your lovely performance at the Festival last Saturday; you performed a great many interesting and challenging pieces, and I could really hear and see how far you have come as singers and performers! Keep up the great work!
Please remember to use the restroom before rehearsal – particularly those in Honors, who often come early and are standing around – this is a great time to go to the bathroom, get a drink, etc. I understand we all need breaks, and you are of course welcome to use the bathroom whenever you need to, but there is too much coming and going during key moments of rehearsal – it is very distracting! Thank you in advance for being mindful of this.

- Listen to and review Seven Wonders(memorized by 04/21) – please go over all the sections in 3-part harmony very carefully! Review by singing your line in solfege.
- Listen to and review Wild Mountain Thyme (this should be memorized by next week) – please go over all the sections in 2 and 3-part harmony very carefully! Review by singing your line in solfege. Also remember the beautiful vowels we want to sing on all those long, sustained notes.
- Listen to and review Ratlin’ Bog(memorized by 04/21)
- Listen to and review Like a Singing Bird(memorized by 04/21)

*Musicianship A: Excellent work in class today – our work with the rhythm dice displayed that you can really play and count a number of complex patterns, and our activities in F major displayed great skills in sight-singing and dictation. This week, please complete pages 34-36 in Book 2. Those of you finished with Book 2 should continue reviewing all pages, and doing activities on musictheory.net.
*Please remember your exam is just around the corner on Thursday April 21st! This is what you need to know:
- All Prep 3 skills
- Identify and explain time signatures with 8 on the bottom
- Write a major scale (C, G, and F major)
- Write in counts for rhythms including 16th notes
- Increased vocabulary (added tempos and articulation markings)
- Sing a diatonic scale (C, G, and F major)
- Sing a tonic triad (insolfege)
- Take simple dictation in C, G, and F major
- Identify whole and half steps
- Sight read melodies in C, G, and F major
*Musicianship B: Great work in class today! Keep reviewing how we count those complex rhythms, and continue to memorize the order of sharps, flats, and all the major key signatures. Please review intervals with the help of the listening activities in your book, and the intervals section in the site musictheory.net. This week, please complete pages 34-36 in Book 3. Those of you finished with Book 3 should continue reviewing all pages, and doing activities on musictheory.net.
