Emielyn Das1 Year with Cantabile
Before coming to Cantabile, my experiences with music were deeply individual, and it served as a personal passion and private escape. In my one year in Vocalise and Aria, I learned that music was inherently a collaborative art form, one that could create a community out of strangers and harmony out of diverse voices. Twice a week, I cherished finding sixty five other people with the same passion as me and being able to be a part of something bigger than myself. My experience with Cantabile provided me with both traditional music training and a modern outlook on the future of choral music. The music we rehearsed and performed constantly pushed me outside of my comfort zone, introduced me to new styles and histories of music, and encouraged me to continue to experiment. Looking back, Cantabile developed my confidence as an individual and shaped my perspective as an artist, and for that, I couldn’t be more grateful.
