Cantabile Youth Singers
Artistic Director Elena Sharkova announces

One Note at a Time

Cantabile Youth Singers continues their 11th season with a spirited performance of their winter concert , "One Note at a Time”, at 7PM on Saturday, January 22nd, at First United Methodist Church, 625 Hamilton in Palo Alto.

The concert will feature the top three choirs of Cantabile Youth Singers in a program that speaks to the healing powers of music. “One Note at a Time” is an entrancing visit to the music and poetry of many cultures and traditions spanning 4 centuries: from baroque and classical to gospel and New Age; from the elegant songs of Henry Purcell to deeply emotional psalms of the Sami people of Norway.

The highlight of the concert, Place of the Blessed, by American composer Randal Thompson, is a rarely performed, beautiful and moving melodious masterpiece. The work is performed by Cantabile’s senior chorus, the Chamber Ensemble, and talented instrumentalists of the San Jose State University Department of Music.

Don’t miss the opportunity to join us in this memorable musical event and to share some magical moments with family and friends. Tickets are $12 general, $6 students.

Under the artistic leadership of Elena Sharkova, Cantabile Youth Singers performs as the children’s chorus for Opera San Jose, in concerts the San Jose State University Chorale and will be performing at Carnegie Hall in June 2005.

The chorus has four levels which rehearse weekly in Los Altos at Foothills Congregational Church and welcomes new singers in September and January. For more information, call 650-424-1410 or visit www.cantabile.org.
