Spring 2005

Notes from our Artistic Director

Dear Cantabile Singers and Parents,

Welcome to the spring session of Cantabile’s season! Welcome back to returning singers, alumni and a warm hello to our new singers this semester!

Thank you to our singers and families who have made this year so successful and provide the dedication and inspiration necessary for us to continue to grow musically together. This year has seen so many wonderful performances—and with Carmina Burana, our spring concerts and our tour to Carnegie Hall, the best is yet to come!

Every top program has to set high expectations—and as Cantabile is no exception, I would like to let our new families (and remind our returning singers) of some artistic policies.

Rehearsal attendance and participation policies.

I am glad to see that most of our singers come to rehearsal on time and prepared—with music organized and a pencil ready for music marking.

Please continue to remember the importance of being on time and ready for each rehearsal. As it was last semester, the following policy will be followed for all ensembles.

3 tardies equal 1 absence. After 3 absences or more absences the instructor will have to decide whether a singer shall perform in the next concert or not.

Music folders should be brought to all rehearsals. It is extremely important that each singer uses and marks his/her OWN music. Parents, please help!

Carmina Burana

These two very special performances will be a joint production of SJSU Concert Choir and Chorale and Cantabile. For exact times and dates please refer to the Cantabile Calendar.

Spring Concerts

Come and hear all of our youth choirs in two special June concerts, June 10th (Prep, Intermediate, and Tour Choir) and June 12th (Concert Choir and Chamber) at Le Petit Trianon in San Jose. Exact times are available on our website calendars.

Remember these events, and our workshops leading up to our 2005 tour to Carnegie Hall! Once again, thanks to all of you for you, parents, singers, helpers and supporters. On behalf of the artistic and administrative staff, happy singing everyone!

—Elena Sharkova
