Message from Kyle

After only a few months of learning together, Prep has begun to make some giant steps. As we sing, move and play, we learn about how rhythms and melodies come together to make the songs we sing. We can read the notes so, mi and la on the staff and can identify rhythm patterns in some of the songs we have learned.

Getting ready for the Winter Concert, we focus on how to use our voices in the best way we can. We’re discovering the different sounds our voices make, the different dynamics with which we have to sing and, most importantly, we are learning how to sing together and what it means to use all of our wonderfully unique voices to make them sound as one.

As we approach the concert, we look into our hearts to remember what it is that brings us together each week to experience the wonders of making music. Singing in a choir is a team effort. Every singer is important. Each plays a vital role. We all have special skills to bring but it is the blending that makes the whole so beautiful. We create something that can only be made with the help of each person in the group. We are expressing words in a way not possible in speech alone. We are learning where the music comes from—inside our hearts where it has been all along.
