Additional Choir Opportunities

Retreats
Members of Concert Choir participate in a 1-day retreat in the early fall. Chamber Ensemble participates in a 2 to 5-day retreat held in late summer or early fall. Guest clinicians are brought in to augment our regular artistic teaching staff.

Camps
Cantabile hosts week-long Summer Music Day Camps. Current and new members of Preparatory Choir and Intermediate Choir have the opportunity to attend one or more of the week-long camps, which are held at Foothills Church from 9AM to 3PM. Activities include choral rehearsal, music theory, musical games, movement, arts and crafts, and time to bond with other young singers. The week culminates in a short performance for families and friends.

Registration

A non-refundable registration fee of $50.00 is required to register each new student and each former student returning after an absence of 6 months or more.

Singers who are in 6th grade or higher are asked to complete forms for Foothill College. There is no charge for this registration that benefits Cantabile by continuing our membership with the Foothill College Performing Arts Alliance.

For the safety of our singers, registration forms are completed annually, with special emphasis on parent contact, emergency and medical information. Please notify the Cantabile office at 650.424.1410 or at info@cantabile.org with any changes of address, telephone or emergency information.

A First Aid kit is available in the Cantabile storage locker at the top of the stairs.

Fundraising

As a member of the Cantabile Choral Guild, Cantabile Youth Singers is a non-profit organization funded by student tuition, honoraria, contributions, grants and fundraising. Since tuition covers less than 60% of the costs of the excellent music education we provide to our singers, we must raise at least $300 a year for each student through fundraising. All families are encouraged to participate in several fundraising programs.

Holiday and Spring Concerts Boutiques, open before and after each concert, are run by volunteers. 100% of the proceeds go to Cantabile. Boutiques are an excellent place to buy gifts, purchase snacks and donate items to sell. Items with the Cantabile logo: sweatshirts, T-shirts, mugs, and bears are available for purchase as are Cantabile?s performance CDs.

Volunteers

The active support of parents is central to the success of Cantabile Youth Singers. Parents are asked to participate in many different areas to enhance the work of Cantabile. Volunteers are needed to assist with rehearsals, performances, retreats, tours, publicity, social events, hospitality, and fundraising. We ask you to sign-up for at least one job listed on the Volunteer Sign-Up Sheet.

If you have not signed up for a specific position, our Program Manager will contact you to fill in where we need assistance.
Cantabile regularly needs a parent volunteer specific to each of the 4 different choirs who attends the rehearsal and assists the Music Instructor with attendance taking, music distribution, and the general well-being of all present.

Chaperones are needed for different Cantabile events including performances, outings, retreats, workshops.

Concerts require teams of people working on a specific performance event.

Promotion activities are ongoing and are also done more on your own schedule rather than on that of a performance or rehearsal.
Fundraising is an essential part of any organization these days. Special skills and talent and imagination are treasured by all of us.
We also invite parents in medical professions to accompany the choir on tour to take care of possible medical needs.
When completing your Volunteer Sign-Up Sheet consider your talents and how they might best be used to help us help our singers.
