Greetings Prep 2 Families,
Many thanks from Jazmine and myself for another great week of rehearsing in Prep 2 Chorus. After 2 weeks of rehearsal, you have already made great strides, and it has been so fun building our friendships and community through name games, partner dances, and lots of singing!
Trivia Question: Where is Papaya Salad from?
This week, watch and listen to:
Please work on the following:
- Review all the lyrics of Path to the Moon, practice singing it as you sway with the waves!
- Review our circle movements for Haida, including the big CLAP on the rest! We will continue to pick more singers to play the tambourine next week
- Please clap the calypso rhythm from Shake the Papaya Down as you sing the first two verses. Then add the movements, and continue on to practice the next section, “Shake them down.” Papayas are delicious – what is your favorite fruit?
We continued to explore high and low singing with our Vocal Exploration Warm-ups, and our Bumble Bee Song. New singers will be picked to hold Bernie the bee next week! We also danced the Caribbean Partner dance, “I Let Her Go-Go,” and used the magic wand to play “Starlight Starbright.”
Everyone should have gone home with a music folder, which contains all your music, and a fun double-sided music theory page. This week’s page is more about the treble clef. Please work on the pages at home, watch this fun video about the Treble Clef, and bring the pages back to class, along with your folders.
Trivia Answer: Thailand!
Have a great weekend, and we look forward to seeing you next week!
Katie and Jazmine
