Emily’s Prep 2 Blog for Thursday, November 29, 2018

Dear Prep 2 Families,

We have just one more rehearsal before our recital, which will take place at our usual class time on December 13.  It will take place in the Parish Hall at the church rather than our usual class room.  Please have your children arrive by 4:50 dressed in their uniforms.

We will be having a potluck after the recital, so please bring some food to share.  Click here for our potluck sign up sheet.

Sunday, December 9 is Cantabile’s annual Holidays With Cantabile Concert!  This concert is always a wonderful evening of music. As a prep family, you can get discounted tickets for just $10.  Click on the link above, and you will be directed to our website.  When you get to the tickets page, select tickets in the price level 2 or 3, and enter the discount code PREPPARENT at check out. Price level 1 seats are not available at this discount.  We hope to see you there.  It is a great opportunity for your children to see what they could be doing in the future.

Please make sure that your child has memorized the songs for our recital. The lyrics are below. They are:

Today’s the Time for Singing

Shenandoah

S’vivon

Chocolat Chaud

Piglet’s Christmas

I would say that they have a pretty good handle on everything but Piglet’s Christmas.  Please have your child memorize the words and listen to the youtube video so they can familiarize themselves with the piano part.

For the other songs, please make sure your child can sing them for you from memory.  We will have another crack at them next week, and I will ask them to sing them without any music.

A Piglets’ Christmas

On the day before Christmas the farmer did boast,

That his piglets were best for the holiday roast.

He had fed them with barley and fed them with corn

So they’d be nice and fat for the feast Christmas morn.

Oh he dashed them with burnet and basil and bay.

They were buttered and breaded to bake for a day.

As he heated the oven it came very clear,

That he never could eat them for they were too dear.

O the pigs sang a carol, the farmer sang too,

With the feasting forgotten amidst the to-do.

Today’s the Time for Singing

Today’s the time for singing

Good cheer to us all bringing

But if we don’t get started now

When shall we begin?

We’d like a life of melody

Filled with constant harmony

But if we don’t get started now

When shall we begin?

Today’s the time for singing

Good cheer to us all bringing

But if we don’t get started now

When shall we begin?

We’d like to live a life of ease,

Going when and where we please

But if we don’t get started now

When shall we begin?

S’Vivon

Shenandoah

O Shenandoah, I long to hear you

Away, you rolling river

O Shenandoah, I long to hear you

Away, I’m bound away

‘Cross the wide Missouri

O Shenandoah, I love your daughter

Away, you rolling river

For her I’ve crossed the rolling water

Away, I’m bound away

‘Cross the wide Missouri

O Shenandoah, I’m bound to leave you

Away, you rolling river

O Shenandoah, I’ll not deceive you

Away, I’m bound away

‘Cross the wide Missouri
