Dear Prep 3 Singers & Families,
It was so nice to meet all this year’s Prep 3 last week! Prep 3 is off to a wonderful start. I am really excited to see how this group of singers grows over the next few months! Parents – one of my goals as a teacher is to make my class a safe space for students to try new things, experiment with their voices, and feel comfortable making mistakes. If there is any helpful information you’d like to share with me about your child and/or the way he or she learns, please let me know (email: email@example.com).
Reminders for Parents: Please be sure to read through the Cantabile FAQ’s and add the Prep 3 dates to your calendar. All Prep 3 singers will need a performance uniform for our end of semester recital and for the Prep 3 lobby performance at the Holidays with Cantabile Concert!
This Week in Prep 3:
-We learned each other’s names with the name game Up the Ladder
-We sang and danced to the song Jump and Go, switching partners each time we repeated the song.
-We reviewed class expectations (1. Follow Directions Quickly; 2. Show Respect; 3. Make Smart Choices 4. Be nice & have fun!)
-We warmed up our bodies and voices for singing by reviewing posture and solfege syllables with Curwen Hand Signs
-Each singer received their Prep 3 Music Binder – this binder is on loan to your student this semester. The music included may be written on with PENCIL only. Singers must bring the binder to rehearsal each week
-We discussed how to complete the Prep 3 Practice Log. Please encourage your child to practice 10-15 minutes each week
-We learned a new canon, Laughing, Singing and sang in two-parts!
-We started learning one of our performance pieces, Snow is Falling. We learned the melody and all about how to read a choral octavo.
Thank you for being a part of Prep 3 and Cantabile! I look forward to seeing you all next week.
