Prelude II Blog

Hello Prelude II Singers & Families,

Here are links to recordings of some songs and activities. Last week in the blog, I linked copies of the sheet music for a few songs as well. Each week, we will be posting more content, materials, and activities so that we can continue making music during this time that we cannot be together in person. Please reach out with any questions.

Plainsies, Clapsies – Review this song and play the bean bag toss game! If you don’t have a bean bag, try using a part of rolled up socks, a koosh ball, or a small stuffed animal! As you sing and play, think about how this song would sound if we sing it on our melody names/solfege syllables (sol la sol mi, sol-sol la-la sol mi, etc.). Can you sing it on syllables? In addition to the recording, here is the sheet music and a worksheet we will do with this song next week.

Songs to practice singing:

Welcome to the Day

Mrs. Jenny Wren – Voice Part played on piano with sheet music

Mrs. Jenny Wren – Choral performance

Imagine – 2019 Performance by Cantabile

More to come next week! I will try to post on Tuesday or Wednesday each week – and will send an email letting you know when the blog is up!

Best,

Amy & Andy

Prelude II Tuesday – Week of March 2, 2020

Dear Prelude II Family & Singers, I hope that you are all well and staying healthy! This week, Prelude II class worked on fluency with pentatonic solfege syllables (that’s the notes do, re, mi, sol, and la of the major scale). Many of our folk songs and singing games use only the pentatonic scale, so we are working with known […]
