Allegro Blog

Dear Allegro Singers & Families,

It was so fun to get to participate with you in the Cantabile Fall Workshop. I am so proud of all of the singers! It was a long day of rehearsing and performing, with very little down time, and Allegro singers were very focused, well-behaved, and engaged in the entire process. Well done!

Last weekend, Allegro had a chance to practice the choreography of “Hot Chocolate” with Intermezzo and their conductor, Lori! We learned that Intermezzo’s choreography is different than ours – so we need to be super confident in our movements so that Lori can cue Intermezzo without confusing us! I have sent a separate email with a REHEARSAL VIDEO from Saturday, as a way to practice singing and moving. You’ll see that I am in the bottom of the screen doing Allegro’s movements along with the singers.  This will NOT be the case in the Holidays with Cantabile concert, so please spend some time working to make this choreography second nature!

Singers should now be focusing on memorizing and polishing our music.  We have only two rehearsals before our November 21st performance! For this week, singers should have “Something Told the Wild Geese” fully memorized. We will continue to focus on the ending in rehearsal, but it’s time to put our music down and focus on performing! “Haida,” “Dona nobis pacem,” and “Light a Candle for Peace,” are all in good shape. Thank you for your work on these pieces.

In the next few weeks you will be receiving updated information on our performance details for November 21st.  Please note that our regular rehearsal on November 19th will be considered a dress rehearsal – all singers should wear their FULL UNIFORMS to this rehearsal and to the November 21st PERFORMANCE.

Finally, I will be sending out an email and sign-up sheet for our December 10th small group evaluations.  Singers will sign up for an 15-20 minute group evaluation during our regular rehearsal time. This will give me an opportunity to hear the singers’ voices more independently and see each singer’s individual part-holding vocal, and music-reading skills! Please keep an eye out for that email.
