Greetings, Prep 3 Singers!
Thank you for another lovely week of rehearsing! We are getting so close to our upcoming performance at Holidays with Cantabile and your own class recitals, so it is important to keep up all the great work you are doing!
Trivia Question: One of our favorite dances at the moment is “Great Big House in New Orleans.” Where is New Orleans?
This week, continue to listen to these recordings whilst following along in your music:
Another action item:
The words in Hine ma tov translate as: See how good and pleasing it is for people to be joined in unity!
The words in J’aime la galette translate as: I love cake, Do you know how? When it’s made well, With butter inside!Tra la la la la la la la lère
Rehearsal Overview: It was so fun to sight-read some Halloween Candy Rhythms with you! All of our theory activities at the beginning of class have shown that you are really grasping the concepts, particularly hearing and feeling the different between duple and triple meter (3/4 versus 4/4) , sight-singing with solfege syllables, and reading a number of different rhythmic patterns. Use your musical scores as a tool to continue practicing your rhythm reading – simply pick a section in your music, and clap the rhythm while chanting the rhythmic syllables! We are also working on a number of different canons which will serve as a big feature in our recitals. Sing through these canons and partner songs at home:
Rooster in the Stew
Ah, poor bird
Ghost of Tom
Hey Ho, Nobody Home
Sweetly the Swan Sings
Trivia Answer: New Orleans is the largest city in the state of Louisiana!
Have a great weekend, and Happy Halloween!
