Greetings, Intermediate Singers!
On behalf of Matthew, Simon, and me, thank you for your hard work in yesterday’s Intermediate Chorus Rehearsal. We are starting to dive deep into challenging repertoire from many styles and ethnicities, and I truly praise you for your great enthusiasm and focus- it will truly pay off in the coming weeks! Remember our ultimate goal: Beautiful and unified singing, joining our souls and voices together in song!
Save the Date: Thursday September 29th Masterclass with Jace Wittig
Parents are welcome to sit in on this special opportunity for the singers of Intermediate Chorus to perform and receive expert instruction from a superb musician and performer. Trivia Question: What does the German word “Ruh” or “Ruhe” mean?
Action Items for this Week:
Particularly watch the “ich” laut, and remembering that in German the “w” sounds like an American “v,” and a German “v” sounds like an American “f!” The “ä” in the word “Hände” is pronounced “eh,” as the vowel sound in the word “bet.” Remember to keep the “ooh” sound in “und” more open, like the vowel sound in the word “book.” Lastly, in spite of what I orginally said, we will sing schönen instead of lieben after all. Continue to listen whilst following along in your score, and decide when you think the phrases are longer and more legato (one step every four measures), and when they are shorter, with more emphasis on each beat (3 steps per measure).
Excellent work reading and playing your Instrument Rhythms! You worked on singing and writing the Chromatic Scale and reviewed the white and black keys on the piano. This week, singers working out of Book 1 should complete pages 9-12, and singers working out of Book 2 should complete pages 5-6. Please complete and give to Simon first thing when you arrive next Thursday. Please do your homework, and if you do not understand it, ASK MATTHEW!
Excellent work reading and playing your Percussion Rhythms! You also reviewed a number of different time signatures and added in missing the bar lines in 2/4, ¾ 4/4 and 6/8 time. You also completed a challenging rhythmic dictation. Great job! This week, singers working out of Book 3 should complete pages 5-6. Please complete and give to Simon first thing when you arrive next Thursday. Please do your homework, and if you do not understand it, ASK ME!
Singers who have completed Book 3: As your second assignment on Noteflight, I would like you to do the following:
