Bravi and V.T.G. Rehearsal Blog

Dear Bravi and VTG,

For next rehearsal, please work to prepare all your music for the CYS Festival on March 2nd – we have two more rehearsals before our performance then! We will be performing the following pieces:

El Ultimo Café – remember to keep it light. Read the translation here. (Wow – those are some words!!) Please have this memorized by Monday.

Tristezaplease have this memorized by Monday.

Missa Criollo – Kyrie and Gloria – you can hear and watch the whole work here; our pieces are at the beginning of the video. Please spend some time getting the feel of this piece in your heads.

The Girl from Ipanema, Besame Mucho, and One Note Samba – we will very possibly be doing these, so have them ready to go, please. VTG, please have them mostly memorized by Monday.

Another note – VTG, there is NO REHEARSAL this coming Tuesday, 3/22. Enjoy your time off!

And, finally, good luck to Simon as he performs the Faure Requiem with the Symphony Silicon Valley this weekend!

March 7, 2016/Rehearsal #21

Dear Bravi, I’m very, very pleased with the point that you are at at this point of the year, both in rehearsal and vocally. You are becoming quite flexible as an ensemble – ready to jump between tasks in rehearsal or to stay focused on one thing for a long time. This next week, please finish off Seven Bridges Road. […]

February 22, 2016/Rehearsal #20

Dear Bravi, I really was impressed with your work on sustained tone. Please carry that work forward throughout the year. It helps you to have a gentle, accurate, and connected sound. The recording session is upon us! You are now responsible for having all your Winter Concert material at recording level. Please pay particular attention to “I Wish You Christmas,” page 8, […]

February 8, 2016/Rehearsal #19

Dear Bravi and VTG, Monday’s was a long rehearsal for sure, but you pushed through it well. Thank you for your good attitudes about whatever you are asked to do – you sounded even better (and more energized) after you came in from your run around the parking lot!  😉 As a reminder: there is no rehearsal this coming week; we […]

All of you, I’m really proud of you for the awesome work that you put in – we were really making a good sound on Seven Bridges Road!! Okay, here’s […]

January 25, 2016/Rehearsal #17

Dear Bravi and VTG, That was fun working with the combo on Monday, wasn’t it?! This week will be a very simple blog post. Bravi and VTG, make sure that you have all your music ready for Saturday’s Gala. VTG, please practice Bridge Over Troubled Water – I’m concerned about that one still. All of you, please remember to review your Winter […]

January 18, 2016/Rehearsal #16

Dear Bravi and VTG, Thank you for your good work on Monday! A few words about vocal tone: Please be constantly conscious of your own sound in the moment as you sing. Do not attempt to sing louder than is natural, and do not attempt to sing with a more mature (more “manly”) tone than is natural. Your voices are still developing, […]

January 11, 2016/Rehearsal #15

Dear Bravi, Good work on Monday, both with me and with Laney. I appreciate the way that you always bring your ‘A’ game to rehearsal; I really feel that we accomplish so much each week! VTG, please spend time on your individual notes on Bridge Over Troubled Water. Those notes go by quickly, and we need to have each one […]
