1. BACK TO CANTABILE PARENT NIGHT
Please join us for this exciting and informative event! Don’t miss this great chance to meet other parents and staff.
  • When: This Wednesday, September 26th
  • Time: From 5:30-6:30 pm (please note: there is NO musicianship class at 5:00!)
  • Where: Foothills Congregational Parish Hall
  • Schedule: 5:30-45 Food and socializing

For the remainder of the hour, presentations and greetings by Elena Sharkova, Artistic Director, and Kay Kleinerman, Executive Director. Also a chance to meet our support staff Jennifer Hsu and Karen Linford, as well as our new escrip coordinator Tricia Baldwin.

Rehearsal that night to follow:
  • 6:30-7:30 Ensemble and Vocalise
  • 7:30-8:45 Vocalise (Ensemble dismissed at 7:30)

2. ESCRIP
Our new escrip coordinator is Tricia Baldwin. (thanks Tricia!) We will be sending you updates on our escrip program and our profits from that program. If you have not signed up yet, please do! It is an easy way to shop at your favorite store, and help support Cantabile as well! To sign up, go to www.escrip.com and search for "Cantabile Youth" as the group name to add to your group list, either for an existing account or a new one. It's easy, so please join!

3. REMINDER
Uniform forms are due this week to ensure there is time to order. Please mail to our office at 953 Industrial ave, Suite 122, Palo Alto, Ca., 94303, or you can bring with you to rehearsal this week.

AN ADDITIONAL REMINDER THAT FOOTHILL FORMS AND REGISTRATION FORMS ARE NOW DUE. PLEASE REMIT YOUR FORMS AND PAYMENT TO AVOID LATE FEES. THANK YOU!

4. CONTACT REMINDERS
We appreciate you letting us know of absences. Please make sure to send these to the correct place. For attendance, please copy only the instructor and Jennifer Hsu. (manager@cantabile.org) (and not Karen Linford) Questions about volunteering can be directed to Karen. Thanks everyone!

5. LOST AND FOUND
There is a box in the upstairs cabinet full of sweaters, coats, etc from last year. Please check upstairs to see if you have items that have been left. (please also check before you leave rehearsal to make sure you have all!)

Items not claimed by the end of each month will be donated to Goodwill.

Weekly SCOOP Voc/Ens 9/19/07

1. THANKS TO OUR RETREAT CHAPERONES, LAURA KATZ, KELLY TAKAHASHI, MARY KAY GOING, DAWN TESAROWSKI, AND HEATHER DAWSON!

The retreat was a success, thanks to our fine chaperones and instructors. I enjoyed coming up Friday night and watching Elena and Shane in action! I think the kids really learned a lot and had a great time as well. So thank you again to all who were involved.

2. REGISTRATION REMINDERS – PLEASE NOTE – If you have questions about fees/registration/forms please contact Jennifer Hsu (manager@cantabile.org)

Cantabile tuition is due by 9/20. Please remit on time to avoid any late fees.
Foothill forms (registration and K-12 permission slip) are also due by 9/20. If you have been unable to obtain an administrator signature from your school, please DO turn in your Cantabile tuition by 9/20 and try to get us the Foothill form as soon as possible.
Uniform forms are due by the last week of September

3. SAVE THE DATE – BACK TO CANTABILE NIGHT

WEDNESDAY, SEPT 26TH DURING REHEARSAL
Back to Cantabile night is a chance for our instructors and administrative staff to meet our wonderful parents, and for them to share with you their exciting plans for the upcoming season. Please save the date and plan on attending this informative and fun event. There WILL be rehearsal following the event. More specific details (such as the evening’s schedule) will be sent out later this week.

Great first rehearsal everyone! Thanks to all who assisted with the first night to make it a success.


MANDATORY RETREAT:
  • Where: Camp Jones Gulch, 11000 Pescadero Rd, La Honda, Ca. 94020
  • When: Friday Sept. 14 – Sunday Sept. 16
  • Drop off: Friday the 14th at 5:30 pm, Pick up is Sunday at 1:00 pm
  • Chaperones are needed for this trip – We need 1 male chaperone and 2 more female. We will cover your room and board! Please email me – we must have adequate coverage. (Karen@cantabile.org)
  • We also need several parents to help Jennifer with snacks – picking them up from the office on Friday and bringing them up to Jones Gulch – please email Jennifer if you can help. (manager@cantabile.org)
  • Please email Elena if you have conflicts or if you will be arriving late/leaving early. (Elena@cantabile.org) We need final numbers by Friday, September 7th.

Weekly SCOOP, Ensemble & Vocalise, 9 5 07

1. Hello everyone, and welcome back! It’s going to be an amazing season for Cantabile! Rehearsals resume this Wednesday, September 5th at Foothills Congregational Church, 461 Orange Ave, Los Altos.

Rehearsal Schedule: Please note a slight time change
  • Ensemble 5:00-7:30 (with musicianship class starting at 5:00)
  • Vocalise 5:45-8:45

Bring pencils and water – also please bring a snack as none are planned for this evening. Please make sure you bring the following to give to Kay Kleinerman, our new Executive Director, at rehearsal (unless you have already mailed into our office)
  • Your Cantabile registration form
  • Your Foothill forms (the K-12 one needs to be signed by your principal)
  • Your volunteer form
  • Uniform form (for new and growing kids only)
  • Any Cantabile music you have from last season that you did not return.

  • Permission slips and a list of what to bring will be provided at the first rehearsal. Permission slips are mandatory for all participants.

3. IMPORTANT OFFICE CHANGES:
As most of you know, we have hired a new Executive Director, Kay Kleinerman. We are very lucky to have Kay with us this year! Our new Program Manager/Business Manager is Jennifer Hsu.
I (Karen) will be able to remain on as part of the Cantabile support staff, so you will be seeing weekly email announcements from me this season. I will only be handling weekly email announcements, and volunteer organization. With these staff changes please note the following so your question goes to the correct place:

  • For questions about billing, registration, scholarships, and Foothill forms, please contact Jennifer Hsu. (Manager@cantabile.org)
  • For questions about uniform orders and CD/DVD orders, please contact Jennifer Hsu
  • For audition/evaluation information, please contact Jennifer Hsu

4. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
For the beginning of the year, we are in search of the following:

Uniform parent – to assist Jennifer with uniforms this year
Music Librarian – to assist our instructors and Jennifer with maintaining our library


5. WELCOME TO MARGIE AUSTRIA
We are thrilled to have Ms. Austria as part of our artistic staff! Margie will be teaching Cantabile Preparatory Choir, which meets on Thursdays from 4-4:50. Margie currently is the music teacher at Pinewood School’s lower campus, and we look forward to having her as part of our team.
