Weekly SCOOP, Ensemble & Vocalise, 9 5 07

1. Hello everyone, and welcome back! It’s going to be an amazing season for Cantabile! Rehearsals resume this Wednesday, September 5th at Foothills Congregational Church, 461 Orange Ave, Los Altos.

Rehearsal Schedule: Please note a slight time change
  • Ensemble 5:00-7:30 (with musicianship class starting at 5:00)
  • Vocalise 5:45-8:45

Bring pencils and water – also please bring a snack as none are planned for this evening. Please make sure you bring the following to give to Kay Kleinerman, our new Executive Director, at rehearsal (unless you have already mailed into our office)
  • Your Cantabile registration form
  • Your Foothill forms (the K-12 one needs to be signed by your principal)
  • Your volunteer form
  • Uniform form (for new and growing kids only)
  • Any Cantabile music you have from last season that you did not return.

2. MANDATORY RETREAT:
  • Where: Camp Jones Gulch, 11000 Pescadero Rd, La Honda, Ca. 94020
  • When: Friday Sept. 14 – Sunday Sept. 16
  • Drop off: Friday the 14th at 5:30 pm, Pick up is Sunday at 1:00 pm
  • Chaperones are needed for this trip – We need 1 male chaperone and 4-5 female. We will cover your room and board! Please email me! (Karen@cantabile.org)
  • Please email Barbara Weinstein with any food allergies or vegetarian diet restrictions by Friday, Sept. 7th. (Barbara@ontrk.com)
  • Please email Elena if you have conflicts or if you will be arriving late/leaving early. (Elena@cantabile.org) We need final numbers by Friday, September 7th.
  • Permission slips and a list of what to bring will be provided at the first rehearsal. Permission slips are mandatory for all participants.
  • I will send out directions and more info later this week

3. IMPORTANT OFFICE CHANGES:
As most of you know, we have hired a new Executive Director, Kay Kleinerman. We are very lucky to have Kay with us this year! Our new Program Manager/Business Manager is Jennifer Hsu.
I (Karen) will be able to remain on as part of the Cantabile support staff, so you will be seeing weekly email announcements from me this season. I will only be handling weekly email announcements, and volunteer organization. With these staff changes please note the following so your question goes to the correct place:

  • For questions about billing, registration, scholarships, and Foothill forms, please contact Jennifer Hsu. (Manager@cantabile.org)
  • For questions about uniform orders and CD/DVD orders, please contact Jennifer Hsu
  • For audition/evaluation information, please contact Jennifer Hsu
  • For music library needs, please contact Jennifer and Elena/Shane/Margie (Shane@cantabile.org, Elena@cantabile.org, Margie@cantabile.org)
  • For questions about volunteering, please contact Karen. (Karen@cantabile.org) Please note: my Karen@ksings.com address will continue to work as my business email for the year.

4. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
For the beginning of the year, we are in search of the following:

Uniform parent – to assist Jennifer with uniforms this year
Music Librarian – to assist our instructors and Jennifer with maintaining our library


5. WELCOME TO MARGIE AUSTRIA
We are thrilled to have Ms. Austria as part of our artistic staff! Margie will be teaching Cantabile Preparatory Choir, which meets on Thursdays from 4-4:50. Margie currently is the music teacher at Pinewood School’s lower campus, and we look forward to having her as part of our team.
