Amelia Turvey

Dear Bravi and VTG,

I am very proud of you all! On Monday, you worked well with the girls on Night Before Christmas and on I Wish You Christmas. You are singing relatively accurately on both of these songs; therefore, now, I would like to ask you to work on your tone. Please spend time on both of these songs so that you know them well enough to be able to improve the quality of your own tone without negatively affecting the notes. Also, continue to be aware of the diction, as we spend time on on Monday.

In preparation for retreat also, please make sure that you watch (at least twice) the video for Night Before Christmas.

Finally, please make sure you were able to sing both the French words in the pitches correctly on Mon Coeur; tenors in particular, please make sure you are able to enter accurately and gently on “faites q’adieu…”

I look forward to seeing you all on Friday evening!

David and Jace (VTG)

Dear Bravi and VTG, Good reading yesterday on Go Tell It; The parts are very independent at various points in the score, so you will need to make sure that you know your own part very solidly for next rehearsal. Also, please watch this video of The Night Before Christmas: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=oAGCBZh2UkY . When you practice the song, please pay particular […]

Dear Bravi and VTG, Congratulations on some really good work last night! I was particularly impressed by the good, focused work you put in on Ther Is No Rose. Tuning is going to be CRITICAL on that song, so please spend time on your own part perfecting it, particularly the difficult intervals. Again, here is the link for the Chanticleer […]

Dear Bravi and VTG members, What a good first rehearsal on Monday! I truly enjoyed seeing you all again. Here is a link to an excellent recording (by Chanticleer) of Ther Is No Rose. Please listen particularly to both the lightness and purity of the tone – I want to work to achieve this in our own performance. Here is […]

Dear Vocalise Singers, I so enjoyed “setting the container” with you at the beginning of rehearsal on Monday. This exercise, along with your wonderful spellings of VOCALISE by grade level, are a spectacular way to start off our year. As we work together–breathing together, meditating together, and generously sharing the space with each other–may we remember the wholeness we felt […]

Dear Ensemble Singers and Families, This week’s blog will be a bit different, as we are about to head to the Retreat this weekend to continue to learn, grow and rehearse!
