Lee Steward's background comes with over 20 years of experience in the arts as a professional singer, teacher & coach, and conductor. Originally from Lynchburg, Virginia, he has performed on the greatest stages of the world, with companies such as San Francisco Opera, Opera San José, and Opera Theatre of St. Louis as well as on A&E Television with Stephen Sondheim and Bernadette Peters. Having a deep passion for choral music education, he served as a conductor of the Boys Choir of Harlem and the San Francisco Girls Chorus.
Lee recently held the Chair of the Performing Arts role at Bentley School, where he oversaw department recruitment, marketing, and operations. He launched two performing arts series programs benefitting regional charities such as Girls, Inc. and Save the Bay. This year, he completed an Executive MBA at Pepperdine University, with a focus on organizational leadership, finance, and strategy.
He lives in Oakland with his wife and two daughters, ages 9 and 11, and is excited to join Cantabile Youth Singers as the Executive Director in support of its vision and mission.
